Physical Description -- Looking at Derailey, it's not hard to see she is a child of a Drykas Bloodline. Though, she is small framed, standing at 5'4" and well curved, she carries herself as any Drykas warrior of the Diamond clan would, strong and proud. She is constantly underestimated by her feminine appearance, but as people observe and come to know her, they quickly realize she is a force to be reckoned with. Her hair is a dark brown that flows down to her elbows, unless she is on the hunt, then in which case it is pulled back out of her line of site for when prey enter the field. Behind her eyes of golden green, there is an all too knowing look, and the constant look of study, of her prey and the world around her. Also, due to Cyphrus' ever changing and harsh weather, her body has become quite resilient to the climate changes that go on around her. Character Concept -- She wields a warriors disposition, like the rest of her brethren, as well as her father's mentality. She tends to be very calm, until pushed to her limit, then she reacts just like any other wild animal would. She is loyal and protective, priding herself with the fact is was born a daughter of a fierce warrior, with strength gifted by the gods to allow them to live in the world they do. She is quick to defend her people when insulted. Her socializing skills have run dry over the years, so she is not too keen on making conversation or coming to know new faces too well. Spending most of her days alone, with only her horse and dog as company, one tends to get this way. She keeps her playful disposition, though, giving most of her joy and kindness toward her companions, children, and the elderly. Derailey does not scare easily. She does not fear clashing with an enemy, or brethren in a battle for life or to hone her own skills. She meets challenges head on, and though she can be a bit stubborn and quick to pull steel than use words, she has the best intentions in mind and is just looking out for herself. Her curiosity does get the better of her at times. She loves learning new things, and can be found following an outsider to observe their behavior and mannerisms. Anything that is out of the ordinary, and is not seen often in Endrykas, Derailey just can't seem to get enough of. She holds no patience. It is her main flaw. Her gentle touch has, as well, faded over her many years of training herself to be a true Diamond Clan warrior. Ethics -- Derailey believes that one must learn to survive on their own, if they wish to survive at all. She knows one can not truly survive if they depend on other's for everything. That is one of the main reasons she lives the way she does, that, and the fact she can't seem to bring herself close enough to anyone for fear of losing them, like all of the other's she has known. Character History -- Derailey's parents we're both orphaned at a young age, and with each others help, and the help of the kind people of Endrykas they survived into adulthood. They grew up as best friends, managing to stave off starvation and the ever horrible weather changes of their country. Both were inseparable, realizing that they could find no peace in a world without the other, though both hailed from different clans. Her father was derived from the Diamond clan, and her mother from the Opal. They never had much of a home, so they did a lot of roaming as they grew up together. By their teen years, they had mapped out just about every abandoned cave location that they could stay in while the city migrated, making it easier for him to hunt and bring in food and money. Eventually, they had managed to set up their own larger tent section, and adding striders and dogs to the mix, they had everything they needed to call this place home. It was not too long after this they conceived and birthed their first child, a boy, whom they named Drail. They loved their child very much, and watched as he grew stronger and smarter everyday. It wasn't until his third year, that Derailey's mother was blessed with a second child, a baby girl, and thus begins the life of Derailey. She was born on the 9th of Winter, 495 A.V. It was the coldest winter her family had ever seen, but they managed, having already begun to move along with Endrykas to a newer and warmer area to live. Living conditions were poor, not only for her family, but other Drykas people as well, it was a miracle they survived at all. Making it through this, Derailey advanced quickly her first year, learning to crawl, walk, and hold small conversations with ease. Her father thought she was a gift from Zulrav himself, and he showed this quite often praising her for everything she did. Her brother grew attached to her immediately and was constantly helping his mother care for her. Everything at this time seemed so perfect. Even as a toddler (2) she always seemed to be interested in her Father's daggers and weapon collection that he kept in a large chest in his families tent. He would constantly have to lock it, after catching her one too many times playing with one of his knives. Born for battle, he would say, a child meant for steel. Of course, her mother was none too happy about this and tried to raise her to be more like her, holding feminine and gentle qualities, though she knew, at the rate things were going, this would not end up being the case. Times were always hard growing up, as they had to work hard for every thing they needed. Her father and brother would constantly go out into the Sea of grass and catch game to sell in the market. After a while, Derailey had finally reached an age where she was able to accompany them, and she began to eagerly learn anything and everything her father had to teach her, with her brother at her side. They were learning the skills to become strong Drykas warriors. It was all good fun, and went on for several years. Derailey had managed to make a few close friends on hunting expeditions her father planned with his friends and their children. It wasn't until she was eight that both her brother and her father had to leave to go into battle. What they were fighting, she did not know, but her mother forbid her to leave with them, which she would have done in a heartbeat, but her father had asked her personally to stay behind and watch after her mother while they were gone, and she would never defy him. It was the saddest moment of her life, watching them disappear in the distance of the tall grasses. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into two long years that they had been absent, no word of their health or location ever sent to them. She made sure to continue training while they were gone, hoping to impress them when they returned with her strongly developed skills. She was ten years old the day her life changed. While out training one day, a small family of three roamed half dead into the border fields surrounding Endrykas where she had been located. Shocked at what she had saw, she went to the family, and helped them to her families tent. Her mother did not question Derailey's motives, but only helped nurse the family back to health. The family ended up being a woman and her two daughters, Lani, who was two years younger than Derailey herself, and Lunessa who was only four. Lani sparked an interest in Derailey she could not explain, but the girl was almost completely shut out from the world and held especially cruel emotions toward her own mother. Sh hated everything and everyone except for Lunessa. They were allowed to stay in their home until they would be able to care for themselves, but overtime, Derailey's mother had become good fiends with the woman, and because of how lonely she had been due to her husbands departure and no sign of return, she asked the family to live with them. Derailey was overjoyed at this news, and for an entire year she broke Lani out of her shell, finally becoming very close friends, and eventually considered each other sisters. They began training together and honing their skills together to help support their families. Life had once again returned to its former glory, or as glorious as it could be with missing members. For six long years her brother and father had remained absent, but Derailey never gave up hope that they would return. It was shortly after her fourteenth birthday that they came into the city while she and Lani were in the market, and tapped her on the shoulder. Derailey was so happy about their return, and couldn't wait to get back to their old routine of doing things, but her father was terribly sick, immediately having to succumb to constant bed rest, becoming to weak to stand. They feared he was going to die, but Derailey would never bring herself to accept this. With the help of Lani and her brother, they hunted and worked enough to support the now crowded home. A few months into her fourteenth year, her father secretly left out of the tent and took Derailey to a horse breeder in the city. He had asked her to look over the horses carefully and see which one she wanted. She immediately bonded with a Night Walker foul immediately, and her father spent everything he had buying her this horse, whom Derailey had named Chel. Their bond was stronger and became even stronger over the years. She, Lani, and her brother spent most of their days together training and just having fun, that was until her brother got Lani pregnant. She was only twelve at the time, and no one approved of this. Though, he was sixteen and an adult, she was much too young. Two days before Lani was to give birth Derailey's mother, brother, and father died in an unexpected storm that hit the town. Derailey managed to save Lani, Lani's family, and the baby. Derailey was never really the same after that. Everything was being taken away from her, and there was nothing she could do to stop it. She had to have been the only Drykas female without a family to live for. She had thought that for the longest time, before she realized she did. Lani and her new baby nephew, Vere. They were her life now, but when Lani left to go to a safer place, Derailey had no one. She shut herself away from the rest of the clan, and to this day has yet to let anyone back in. She and Chel lived together for a year, until she was fifteen, having memorized her fathers abandoned cave locations, she preferred to live in the Sea of Grass rather than the city. One sunny day, she had been out hunting birds, she had heard strange sounds coming from a thick patch of grass, investigating she discovered a small pure white puppy tangled up and unable to get loose. Freeing the creature she noticed how skinny the puppy was, and figured its mother must have been killed or abandoned it a few days ago. So, with a hart full of pity, she took in the small puppy and raised up with her and Chel. The three still remain together to this day, trying to survive in this world.
