Physical Appearance
Reve stands a humble five foot nine above the ground he plods along and plod his does. His gait is by far his most striking feature or well…the lack of a good gait. His form that rests slightly on the smaller side is plagued by shoulders that dip too far and a left leg that refuses to bend properly at the hip and knee. Not enough to severely slow him down but enough that speed walking is an exertion that he’d much rather avoid. He’s thankful that his lifting and standing aren’t all that affected but the damn walking makes him look unbalanced and awkward. Besides his physical issues, Reve is an otherwise healthy-looking scholar with a strong nose and jaw that are framed by finger length and dark brown hair that swishes annoyingly into his hazel eyes. A small scar rest on his cheekbone, looking like he might have lost a fight with a cat at a young age due to how faded and how clean of a cut it was. A cousin scar makes an appearance on the same side of his body on his forearm, looking as if he accidentally pressed into a piece of hot iron, still having a shine this one is more recent.
Character Concept
A man who isn’t all the most physically fit has to find other ways to make an impact. When the body is weaker you train the mind and Reve’s mind was always something he was proud of, puzzles and logic were always some of his favorite thing to do as well as unravel mysteries. A curious and wandering cat could be used to describe the limping man. For his sake he hopes that satisfaction will bring him back if he crosses a line in his attempts to make something of his own.
History
Reve has lived a whirlwind of a lifestyle with what some might argue too many career changes, from carpenter to architecture enthusiast to mage and then back to some odd mix of architect and mage. Someone who makes things with his mind, body, and soul all in one. A creation that is, in every aspect, him and something to be proud of.
His life started in Lhavit, born to a herbalist and a carpenter. He often spent time wandering with his mother along the mountain trails as she picked herbs and flowers with him as well as stopping to watch the wildlife. When they came back his father usually had some small toy made from leftover scraps of wood, a duck, a crude horse, half a dollhouse. It wasn’t long after that that Reve began to help his father and garnered his own side projects. All the kids were jealous of his handcrafted crude play homes and mock swords. His father fed this crafting passion by walking hand and hand with him watching Reve’s eyes light up with boyish excitement as he explained the structure of the same roof for the tenth time over.
Reve was happy with architecture and making things. It was a job that lead to meeting many interesting people with his parents and it was one of those interesting people at his fifteenth summer life took a turn for the magic. A mage down on his funds who needed some work done approached his father. Sensing a one-time deal his Father made a deal, Free carpentry work of any scale for as long as the mage taught his son. And with that simple transaction, an apprenticeship was born. Reve preferred the mental aspect of architecture over the physical practice of carpentry anyways so it was a welcome change.
The apprenticeship was uneventful for the most part since it wasn’t one born of want and willingness but frugality. The two made the partnership work and eventually found joy in each other's company. Master Emry was a curmudgeon and not willing to spend anything when his apprentice could do it but it was a magic education, rough as it may have been. Emry even went so far as to take Reve on without the carpentry deal after three years and said it would last until Reve turned twenty-two.
At age of twenty-two Reve was turned loose, with a bit of grumbling that Emry would miss having someone to boss around, and left without much interest in his Father’s business and lacking mage jobs he looked to places to apply his new abilities and construction background. He finally settled on the colony in the jungle, Syka, a place where he could grow his abilities and buildings all at the same time.
