Like most places discovered in The Maw, The Dias of the Forgotten was discovered when a pair of explorers were out in the jungle learning its ways. Named by one of those explorers - Cleon - the Dais of the Forgotten is approximately 100 feet wide by 200 feet long. It is made of enormous cut stones stacked approximately ten feet above the ground.
Stairs lead up to the dais on all four sides. The stone of the dais itself is covered with moss and lichen though nothing else grows upon it. Vines climb the sides, partially obscuring people from actually realizing what it is until they come across a stairway. It appears, mostly, like a remnant wall from one of Pavena's structures.
Once up top of the dais itself, there is no evidence that this dais used to be the foundations of a building or temple. There are no broken pillars, no decaying footers - only smooth seamed stone made up of huge blocks fitted in interlocking patterns. The place is completely open to the sky and makes an excellent place to stargaze or for flying creatures to land.
Because its raised above the jungle floor and perfectly flat, the space can house all sorts of events or rituals. It is protected from seasonal water table changes, flooding, and even the occasional mud flow coming down from higher elevations. The Sykan Rangers have speculated that The Dais of the Forgotten was a temple or ritual space - perhaps to Zintila - though there has been no artwork or writing in the stone discovered to support this theory.
Like other places in The Maw, the wildlife has taken up residence in the area and have established territories that cross over this location and can make it potentially dangerous to visitors.
The Dais of the Forgotten is located relatively close to the settlement, almost adjacent to The Jungle Mounds, and is easily reached from the settlement by cutting straight through the jungle to its location. Once discovered, it has been rediscovered and trails have been cut to it that are clearly labeled to the Sykan Ranger's keen coding system.
