"Chimes?" Bolivar wondered what those increments were as he waved at the other Isur heading out with him outside. He asked a nearby guard and found that it was more then enough time to warm up a bit. He decided to get ready as soon as possible, he knew he had to practice his timing a few times in warm ups before he got the gist of it. He walked the length of the city, until he came across the city gate. Even with all the distractions he knew that the city gate in relation to the huge castle at all times. The gate is too the east and right outside...is an area we can spar he thought as he found himself an area that didn't have much traffic. People can still watch if they so choose but it was secluded enough that they would actually have to show themselves if they wanted to see.

He took his great sword out of his harness slowly looking down it's blade for any imperfections. A bit of knicks here and there but otherwise looking very good he thought. He practiced a few swings, taking care in his stance he had to make sure he never lose his footing. Bolivar thought back looking at his weapon, he has used the family sword since he was inducted into military training but he still had common deficiencies. True, he had strengths compared to some of those his age but had disadvantages compared to them. Hmm I suppose it's all just a thing of experience Bolivar thought trying his best to pinpoint or otherwise detect some irregularities in his form. He practiced the 1st string taught to him, two horizontal swings and a vertical smash. He then reversed his blade and put up the blunt side of his blade practicing the same movement.

"Orah!" he shouted as he switched his style to more of an offense style practicing quick up slashes, turning body swipes, and with some quick body hits meant to stun/immobilize opponents just enough to get his next hit in. He knew stepping in with a great sword was pretty risky so he then shifted his weight to focus more on poking and spacing. A fight can last pretty long though, better consider my other options. he thought stopping the exercise, trying to gather his will.

"It's no good, I still have much to learn physically. Not only that, mentally and spiritually as well," he said smashing the great sword down causing a definite thud on the ground. He reflected a bit on the various gadgets in his head and how it can apply to the other two disciplines. Hmm I can probably outfit an extra gadget or two to the end of Legacy so that it stabilizes a bit better he thought. Hmm and how do I apply this to the other two? raising his hand up. He focus a small amount of djed in his body he felt whifts of his djed gather outside his body, he concentrated further he visualized the wind in his body to surge outwards. He applied his element to his djed right before releasing it from his system, sending out a violent wind that disturbed the area 10 feet around him. Swiftly grabbing his sword he went for another full body swing encircling the 5 feet around him.

Slowly taking back his bearings he put the sword in a resting position he took in deep breaths slowly trying to keep his homestasis. Alright...now to try some meditation before combat he thought as he laid his sword on the ground, closing his eyes and concentrating. His breathing slowing he tried to clear his mind, even with all the racket going on around him. Sigh* "How much longer until they come?"

[Sultros Blades] Choices, Choices... (Bolivar, Kiivir)

Kiizir heard the squire place an order with the working man. So it would appear he would be bring two new weapons to practice with. This should be fun. He thought silently to himself. Kiizir, having little to now knowledge of how the city was laid out had to ask for directions. He asked a nearby Knight, who was polite enough to point him in the right direction.

After a short while later, it was time for meet up. He was afraid he would miss out on all the fun after he got lost several times. But despite his misguiding he arrived just in time. Kiizi watched the other Isurian finish up a few warm up swings. His skills seemed good enough to be considered a danger with a sword. Though Kiizir would see just how effective he truly was today.

He strode into the opening, watching Bolivar practice. “Hey there” He said gruffly. Kiizir walked closer to the man, making his weapon useless in such a small confine. “No sign of the squire yet?” He asked amused, wondering if the man would even show up

Dimitri was sitting upon the walls of the main gate talking to the gateguard. He saw the first Isur show up and ready that massive sword. Dimitri was fairly certain the swird was double the height of the wielder. He watched the heavy swings, the attempts to practice range, and the stunning bashes. He was wondering how he would counter the attacks. The heavy downward swings were just best avoided. The side swinging stun attacks could be block on shield edge. Pokes and stabs could be parried away. He didn't think it would be too difficult.

He watched the other Isur show up with that axe of his. Blocking that hacking blade could be quite difficult, it could chop through cheap gear. He would have to avoid, parry, or block at the hilt. He smiled, already learning how to fight them. He thanked the gate guard, and made his way down. He had his shield in his left arm, his sword on his right hip, his mace dangling from his left hip, and his new axe strapped to his back. "About time you two showed up," as he gestured to the wall where he had been waiting.

[Sultros Blades] Choices, Choices... (Bolivar, Kiizir)

Postby Bolivar on April 1st, 2011, 9:32 pm

Olivar's eyes slanted open as his eyes glazed over. Hmm, this guy is all types of boorish, striding into my general area while I'm practicing. He pulled himself up from the kneeling position and stood up straight a full 5 inches above the other Isurian. He pushed out his arm as he pushed the man back with his left arm. "I don't really know how long you were training in Sultros, but strolling in on another man's practice isn't the smartest of ideas." He chided, he again shook his head in disapproval of the man. Is he really a member of the Coglias clan? he thought sheathing his weapon. Bolivar took his hand off the him as he answered his inquiry. "Of course not, he said he'll be here in 30 chimes. It has only been twenty five so far, which leads me to ask. Where have you been? Don't tell me your one of those lazy Isurians now." he said as he had a look of confusion and disappointment at the other Isurian.

Again he gathered another batch of djed around his body, to practice his training but this time focused it into his left arm. It caused it to shine dully, as it waited for an outlet to surge forth from. Bolivar planned to push Kiizir back some more since he found himself not liking the Isurian as much as his culture wanted. His attention shifted back as he heard Dimitri call out to them. He scoffed as Bolivar grinned slightly as he saw that the one named Dimitri had spent a good amount of time waiting near the wall. Hmph, am I the one here that thought that warming up before we go would be the thing to do he asked jokingly, as he greeted him. He took a look at the weapons Dimitri had and did a small nod to congratulate him on his purchase.

Perhaps you should invest in a weapon harness after this? Wouldn't want those things to swing around and throw you off balance in a fight. he said as he took his out his great sword. "Anyways, moving on to our spar. I think I'll go on ahead and let you guys take the initiative here" he said pointing the sword at them. He backed off from them until until both were a full sword length away from him. He stood with a stoic look on his face as he then raised the sword forward and above his head. His eyes glazed over as it looked he was merely gaping at the empty space between them, the djed in his arm was shining dully. This process he thought wasn't too obvious since he formed his djed in a relatively small yet concentrated area over his left hand.

He reviewed their psych's so far and tried to plan accordingly. Hmph, these people don't take life seriously enough it seems he thought as he concentrated. He wasn't sure if it was the city itself causing it or if that is what happens if your a combatant in the peaceful city for too long. Either way I'll have to understand it. My passion of the world demands it.

[Sultros Blades] Choices, Choices... (Bolivar, Kiizir)

Kiizir glared at the other Isurian. Who does he think he is? Insulting me openly. He resisted the urge to take the man by his collar, force him to the ground and pummel his face in the hard surface. “I would watch what I say.” Kiizir said calmly, an irritated look showing on his rough face.

He spotted the squire approaching from Kiizir’s side. Apparently the man had been watching the other practice alone. Well he will know what to expect from him then, he thought silently to himself. But he has no idea what I can do He smiled his hand felt the smooth metal of his favorite weapon. “I see you managed to acquire some new gear. Hope your ready to learn to use it.” Kiizir said jokingly. Kiizir looked him over intently. The squire was adorned with weapons on all sides it seemed. He could turn out to be a rougher sparring partner then Kiizir expected.

“Well, I shall let you take the lead.” He said toward the squire. Kiizir took a few steps back, allowing him room to adjust his stance and attacking angle. His calloused hands fondled th leather strap holding his axe in place. He released the worn leather. The weight of Slayer settling familiarly in his hand. He positioned himself for a rushing attack, he would wait for the Isurian to open himself up. His blade was useless once you crossed it’s tip. A simple shove and swing, and the man would easily loose the first engagement. “Your move squire” He said bluntly. Kiizir would use the mans attack as a distraction.

Dimitri figured he would watch how the Isur would handle his axe before he would try out his. He unhooked his mace and held it up. He looked at it, in detail. It had a ridged handle for better gripping, a smooth neck, and ended in a spiked ball, with a singled larger spike sticking out of the top, there was also a small spike protruding downward from the grip, that would be below the hand, for stabbing purposes. The spike was small enough so that he wouldn't stab himself when swinging the mace, but big enough to cause harm when used properly. The weight was odd being that the handle was light, and the head, obviously was heavy. He would have to be careful not to overswing and to not lose his grip.

He turned to the two Isur and began to clear his mind and focus like his teacher so often instructed. Fight hard, fight honorably, don't give up. Your weapon is your honor, your shield your iron will. He crouched a bit, gripped his mace and shield, his eyes burning with the confidence of a master. His spirit roared like a beast defending it's territory, his will steeled like an impenetrable bulwark. He positioned his shield so it protected him from shoulder to thigh, and protected the majority of the center, as well as the left side of his body. He decided for a sparring fight that simple chainmail would be enough. It clinked as he shifted lowering his center of gravity. This would give him a sturdier stance and better balance. He was giving of an air of mastery, unwavering resolve, and a neverending persistance. He would fight hard, wouldn't back down or run, and wouldn't give up. Combat was his Keep, and he was it's Keeper. He would wait for an Isur to strike, after all shields were meant to defend.

[Sultros Blades] Choices, Choices... (Bolivar, Kiizir)

Postby Bolivar on April 2nd, 2011, 3:26 pm

They are just standing there... Bolivar thought as the three posed in place for the better part of a minute until he finally lowered his blade. He stared at them somewhat confused and rather annoyed. "Hey you going to be rude and just stand there? I already said I was letting you take the lead in this" he said now putting his sword down. "I didn't realize if your not a knight in this city you turn into a coward. Where's your pride? I don't see any of it" he said looking at the two of them. The knight looked like he planned to try to hole up and focus on defending, perhaps he didn't know how to start attacks to well? he thought before looking at the Isurian. This looks like more like an opportunist then anything he thought noting the flaccid rushing position, probably just waiting for me and the squire and myself to cross blades to rush both of us. There really isn't much Isurian left in him, this city might have softened him up more then he realized.

"Hmm it's nice you guys have thought things out, but rather then just waiting for an opportunity to jump on your lap..." he said as his arm started shining a bit brighter, "I think you should make those opportunities yourself." His eyes glazed over at his would be sparring partners, his mind set and his emotions getting annoyed. The djed in his arm started working under his control, turning violently around and around in his hand, he would not deny it anymore. He raised his left arm and sent out a cone of air in front of him as it closed in on his area of control he infused the res with his element. A violent blast wave of air was aimed at the squire, looking knock him to the ground or at the very least to unsettle the man's defensive position. Either way he didn't give himself the luxury of watching the result.

Bolivar then closed his eyes for a quick second before he continued, gripping and opening his left hand. He looked at his fellow Isurian raising his hand to him finger tips pointed at him in a relaxed demeanor. "You. Redeem yourself, face me. Head on" he challenged. He felt the djed in his body slowly make his way up to his left again, he directed them to turn into small orbs, shaping them as they reached his fingertips. He shot out a hail of pressurized air bullets keeping a steady pressure on the Isurian his face looking somewhat angry, his face scrunched up. Startled by the sound of rushing wind the three already gathered the attention of a nearby crowd, looking somewhat scared by the usage of magic near their city.

"Progress must never be faltered. Every resource must be used, every method explored." he said to no one in particular. His eyes looked as if he was set in a trance, a metallic taste started creeping into his mouth. "Come on, now. Don't let a vanguard beat you, while he's just defending himself." He still had his right hand focused on holding his great sword in preparation of their attacks, he took a half step back to give him a better angle for his wind reimancy. The crowd behind them looked on with a worried look on their faces, to them it started to look as if Bolivar looked to be a villain of sorts. Heh, such small minded indiviudals... he thought back at the crowd.

[Sultros Blades] Choices, Choices... (Bolivar, Kiizir)

Postby Kiizir on April 3rd, 2011, 8:49 pm

Magic? Kiizir had never faced an opponent who wielding magic. Was the man a fool? He blatantly used it in front of a gathering crowd? He must have a death wish. Kiizr was bewildered, yet he was challenged. He wanted to turn and walk away, leaving the fool man and the young squire to face whatever consequences they were bringing on themselves alone.

Instead, he steadied himself. He was prepared for another blast to come flying at him as soon as he made a move. The foolish man would find he was not so easy to topple as a young squire. If he insisted on using magic, he would need more than a little gust to falter Kiizir.

He held his axe low, a position that made it easy to deflect any attack the great sword holder could muster. Kiizir personally doubted that the Isurian had strength to sufficiently wield the massive weapon. None the less, Kiizir made a speedy lunge. Axe low and ready, waiting for the opportune time. He was closing the gap between him and the fool quickly. The man would either attempt to counter his rush, or would react to slowly and Kiizr would quickly gain the upper hand. Making the long slow great sword useless in close proximity.

OOCI knew that was going to end bad. Magic and Knights just don't mix well.

The Knights, as a rule, didn't mind a little healthy sparring, especially when one of the participants was kind enough to not only take into an open space where it wouldn't bother anyone, but give them a head's up of what was going on.

But even the Knights were not oblivious, and just because they allowed the fight didn't mean they weren't paying attention. Not only because the fight could get out of hand, but because it was one of their brothers fighting. And they took that very seriously. When they saw Bolivar bow out and allow the other two to begin sparring, they thought nothing of it.

When they saw him sneak up behind him and, with a distinct lack of either honor or sense, blast him from behind and throw him to the ground with what was obviously magic - well, that wasn't going to go over so well. Either he meant to hurt the man while he wasn't looking, or he was a fool who didn't know when to keep his magic in check. Or he was a madman with no self control. All of those choices had pretty much the same outcome.

Faster than even the wind that was launched from Bolivar's fingertips, the sharp twang! of bowstrings snapped through the air. Almost simultaneously, two arrows slammed into Bolivar - one to his right shoulder, the other to his left forearm. They were thin little arrows made of some fire-hardened wood, made to travel rather far from the Wall. But they were not far form the wall, and so the force of the arrows had them buried all the way to their white feathers. Which were quickly staining red with his blood, even as the crowd surrounding them gasped and milled about.

Another two arrows thudded into the ground - one at Kiizir's feet and the other beside Dimitri. "Stay where you are!" a voice called out from the wall, stern and full of warning. Even as it echoed across the clearing beside the main road, a pair of Knights were walking with purpose through the Gates and heading down towards the lot of them.
PLEASE NOTE: Finals are over, but summer is eating my soul. As such, as of the end of June I will not be accepting any new quests/modded threads until I finish some of the ones I've already started/agreed to. My apologies for this, but I don't want to be unfair to those who have been waiting for replies!

[Sultros Blades] Choices, Choices... (Bolivar, Kiizir)

Postby Dimitri on April 6th, 2011, 6:42 am

Dimitri picked himself off of the ground and turned to the knights, and quickly put away his mace. "Put away your axe." he told his sparring partner. He held out his arms, one still attached to his shield, to show no resistance. It appeared their little sparring match was interrupted, with one of his opponents ending up with two arrows in him. He wondered if the Isur would be arrested and forced to serve in the mines. Dimitri was a bit miffed at his use of magic, even if it was too weak to even hurt him. It just made him look foolish.

Dimitri really didn't look forward to having to explain this whole situation and really hoped it wouldn't negatively effect his chances at Knighthood. He couldn't afford any setbacks. He awaited the Knights, as he thought about the magic used and how he would handle it if facing it directly. He could have easily deflected the wind around him with his shield and moved forward slowly. Or spun out of the wind and charged the man. Even a thrown weapon would have been useful.
