OOC Info The Syka Character Connection

Greetings Sykans!

This thread is simply to drop in and let us know you are in the domain. It is not a required thread, but if you'd like to make contacts, let people know you are willing to thread with them, and plot with others... its a good place to drop a note.

Please feel free to post a little blurb about yourself, what you might want to be doing in Syka, and how long you plan to stay. Travel to and from this domain is fairly easy, so vacationers are welcome as are people that are just dropping in to look around.

If you need some moderator help with housing, jobs, or even just to run a thread or two let folks know here as well. Syka has a full-time moderator (myself aka Goss) and multiple PC voluntary moderators.

This thread does not have to be an IC posting. You can easily post from the writer's perspective and make it solely OOC information. The choice is up to you.

[Karigan]

Hello! Karigan is arriving in Syka on Summer 1st aboard the Veronica.
She doesn't know if she will become a resident (she will), so she's just here to enjoy the area for now and take in some sights.

Karigan is an ex-Syliran Squire (trainee Knight) and a Rak'keli marked healer. She will be staying at The Protea for the summer season.
Happy to thread about pretty much anything, be it sword training and healing or some more fun stuff like sightseeing, magic or gaining Syka skills (fishing, building, wilderness survival etc) as she will need them when she decides to stay.
As a former Squire she is pretty much duty-bound to help where she is able to so even as a tourist she is likely to get stuck in with community things.

Edited to add long-term ideas:
The long-term path I have planned for Karigan is to assimilate into Syka and become a vital member of the community as a healer and magic-user. I would like her to diverge from healing people and start healing the animals of Syka. Through doing this I want her to foster a connection with the land and the animals, leading her to discover and learn morphing and find the attentions of Caihya. I would like her to become a Syka Guardian, using her background as a Squire and resident of Syka. I would love her to aid in discovering more of Syka's history as Pavena.

Greetings!

I'm just popping in to say hi and write an OOC blurb about Tazrae and her plans. I've missed writing something terribly and I plan to get fully back into the swing of things shortly. I should be posting my first thread of the season tomorrow. I'm sure I will post a scrap or two about what's been going on in my life as well in case you are curious. My absence has been heavily noted, but it shouldn't continue further. I've finally got some things sorted out.

My in character plans are going to start simply. Tazrae is going to be focusing on developing Florabundance, and anyone wanting or willing to help with that is welcome to join in. That will include building herself her dream home (finally) and continuing to run The Protea with a few changes, mainly a few hires to help out with cleaning, cooking, and management.

Taz has been given a purpose in past threads. Beyond just being an Innkeeper, Xyna told her that she had been sent to Syka to see if her people - the people of the desert - could thrive in such a warm tropical place. And since she has and has been wholly adopted by the land, she is now acting as a sort of a harbinger for the Benshira that may want to be fleeing the desert due to its lack of resources and chronic conflict. She is an offspring of the Kois and Lisuli clans, raised just as a plain Syliran human and not knowing her true origins in the desert of Eyktol. She discovered her lineage in thread and is slowly working to accept her place in the scheme of things. Beyond that though, Taz is a mage and a caretaker of the jungle. She calls Ixam her kin and owns The Protea Inn along with six acres of jungle and beach adjacent.

I want to continue certain plots... the missing Rhysol Priest is still at large and needs to be found. He needs to be heavily questioned as to why he was in Syka pretending to be an orphan boy. There are still Sykan enemies in the jungle, transplants from other regions - invaders that want to take what Syka has worked hard to build.

I want to continue her learning including gardening, botany, and all the magics she can. In with that I hope to build relationships with PCs in and around Syka. Those relationships will extend to NPCs hopefully as well.

I will thread with anyone that wants to thread. But that being said, I won't carry the thread... meaning please act as well as react so that your PC is driving the story as much as mine is. I think that's what originally turned me off to further writing while in crisis in real life.... I felt like Miz was sucking me dry driving all the plots and carrying certain characters that only wanted to take from the story and not give anything towards it.

Thats not a judgment if your new and just learning. But if you're a wise and learned writer, I expect good things from you in thread.

Strength & Victory

Hello all, Quzon is still in the domain as a resident.

Season change is around the corner so I don't know how much plotting I'll be doing with others, but I am open to threads.

Quzon has a small number of goals that anyone can join in on.

He fought with a Karkula Whiptail that injured him, but he also burned off one of its face protrusions which sent it running back into the sea. Q is constantly trying to get ready to hunt it down in a Moby Dick style hunt. Swimming, hunting, wilderness survival, and general combat are all things that can naturally develop through threads. Branching off of that, I am very motivated to get Q to a point where he can be considered a Syka Ranger.

Q is always up to learn or study magic with others who are interested. He is a mage, but even views himself as a Geologist/geomancer. He is currently on the path to understand morphing. He doesn't know it yet, but this self-learning stems from the fact him owning a magic ring that turns him into a Velispar with a mark of Leth at night. It has had a profound effect on his mind during the day when he reverts to back to normal.

[Sentalia]

Hello Mizaharians,

Sentalia is a freshly fallen Ethaefal who makes her way to the Sykan settlement from nearby shores.

As a writer, I'm looking to ease myself into the game over the first two weeks, to flesh out a bit more substance of character and personality, to explore the terrain and the possibilities in baby steps, and then to hit the ground running with other players in collaborative threads.

BBcode seems like a lot of fun, little bit of a learning curve but an exciting one. I anticipate that it will become more beautiful and sophisticated bit by bit as Sentalia's aesthetic takes shape, but for now the main focus is on the writing itself. Style without personality is just drab.

Looking forward to incrementally increasing involvement and seeing where the spur-of-the-moment imagination takes us!

Life is too short to not write. I've decided to come back, run my florist and jewelry shop, and thread with anyone who wants to. I'm a laid-back ex-monk (read that as failed) who escaped the thug life in Nyka to Syka to basically be the all-around good guy I can be here. IC I'm burned out on the corruption and greed of people. Syka is something of a dream to me because the people here work hard, help each other, and seem far more genuine than they are elsewhere in Mizahar. Magic flourishes, which is a bonus. I'm no mage, but anything that makes life easier is fine by me.

OOC I just want to have a great time and chill in a dream environment that really excites me. Who doesn't want Jimmy Buffet time on the beach 24/7 in a place where honestly life doesn't seem that hard. I'm also willing to help people with NaNo threads if they need thread partners to inspire them. As to what I like to thread about? I'm open. I'll do almost anything (within reason) but I'm not a player and I'm interested in long-term involved plots and ongoing threads.
