Sentalia
Appearance
Race: Ethaefal of Leth
Gender: Female
Age: Just shy of a full season's age; freshly fallen
Birthday: 3 Summer 524 AV
Birthplace: Beach close to Syka
Appearance: as her mortal seeming, Sentalia is about 5'9", with muddy reddish-brown hair that falls in Hellenistic curls, pear-shaped figure, "crafty" hands that are meant for wicker work, weaving, gardening...
In her summer Ethaefal form, her hair turns to jet black, her crown of horns are iridescent green, like green leaves under the moonlight, and she has silver eyes like the silver lining of nighttime clouds... She grows somewhat taller, more severe, and her face becomes more noble, somewhat bordering on haughtiness... a strange blend of sorrow and serenity marks her countenance.
Character Concept
Sentalia is an Ethaefal from the celestial abode of Leth with a human woman mortal seeming. She has a complicated and confused relationship with her patron deity. At times, she feels abandoned and even somewhat punished, with disgust and frustration for terrestrial existence; her indignation towards her fallen state, however, can lead to strong feelings of shame, guilt, and fear of madness, which she supplements with the enthusiastic conviction that she must be here for some kind of purpose or mission, though what exactly that might be often escapes her. While often subtle, profound, and difficult to communicate, her emotions are generally turbulent and are often marked by seeming contradictions. Sentalia spends a great deal of time and mental energy trying to simply understand and articulate her feelings, if only for her own contentment. Her heavy tendency towards introspection can make her seem haughty, aloof, and somewhat cold to others, but she is just trying to make sense of her reality as she experiences it.
Sentalia has a strong mythopoetic relationship to life around her. She lives in a world of her own value structures; she is a self-reflective person who holds Divine beings as more important than herself. She is constantly trying to "think things into context" and relate them to the celestial abode she fell from. In this way, Sentalia is truly a child of the moon god, who rules over the domains of thought and reflection. However, her turbulent emotional state does extend itself to how she feels about her relationship with him. At her baseline, the new moon to her is the darkness of worldly suffering; the full moon is a cruel reminder of where she once felt complete. For her full first year after her fall, she refused to even look at the moon after the first night, instead looking to where the moonlight falls upon the ground. When her emotions become too overwhelming, she dissociates from them completely into the realm of harsh, razor-sharp logical thought and observation of the world, which leads her to become enamoured with flowers. Her deep involvement with plants and blossoms stirs her curiosity and poetic side, which eventually leads to her interest in herbalism and the wonders of the natural world.
