A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

Parah

For the most part, things were going smoothly. The clerk who sat at the head of Parah's line was having a dull day. Boring encounter after boring encounter, but it was all going smoothly. No weird requests, not non-humans, all fairly simple. That was, until Parah reached him.

At first things seemed normal enough. She filled out the form, though she failed to indicate what sort of work she was looking for. From her appearance she seemed well acquainted with labor of some sort, but from her list of skills it was hard to tell what she did.

Skilled at gathering intelligence. Skilled at seducing people. An unarmed combatant, and a masseuse all in one. Truly, she sounded like one of the women from the House of Immortal Pleasures, but the clerk knew for a fact that she was not. And even with all those skills, she had no past work experience. Except for one thing.. that which did raise an eyebrow from the clerk. Slave.

A quick glance at her hand confirmed it, she was indeed marked as a Ravokian slave. Which posed a bit of a problem when it came to getting a job. With a slight frown on his face the clerk inquired, "You are a slave? Or were you freed? If so I'll need to see documentation. If not, do you have permission from your master to work? And what sort of work are you looking for?"

Parah inclined her head in apology. "Forgive me, I was not clear. My mistress does not have need of me during most days and wishes that I not be idle. She has asked that I find a job where I can improve my skills at massage, preferably at the Healing Hands, but...the House of Immortal Pleasures is also acceptable."

She shifted a bit uncomfortably; she knew it was quite a stretch to think that massage could be useful at a clinic, but she would take a job at the whorehouse if that was what she was given.

Spring 8th 512 A.V

Yaotl disliked the feeling of others pressing in around her. She hated the fact that she had come into the Employment center on what must have been a busy day. The storm that had swept through Ravok on the first of the season seemed to have stirred everyone up into a frenzy to help rebuild and defend the city of their god.

Yaotl could admire the devotion of these men and women, but what she couldnt bring herself to enjoy their company at this time. She felt closed in and caged by their presence, but as distasteful as the situation was, she couldn't bring herself to leave.

She made it to the front of her line and stood before the desk of a man filing away the folder of the woman he had just served. She allowed herself to wait for him, forcing up whatever patience she had left after escaping that sea of people.

When the woman finally had his attention, she half closed her dark green eyes and smiled at him. "My name is Yaotl Kryslyn, and I was hoping for some sort of employment that suits my preferences."

When he offered her a piece of paper to fill out, she did so.

Name: Yaotl Kryslyn

Age: Twenty

Relevant Skills: Interrogation, skill with the bagh nakh and wrist razor, poison, and seduction.

Past Experience: None

Before returning the paper, Yaotl read over it again. It seemed kind of weak, but her life so far had required little work. What was she after all? Certainly not the daughter of a farmer or some slaveling. They'd have to make do with this.

12 Spring 512 AV

Aeron stepped into the CEB and made his way up to one of the desks. He stood for a second, tapping his fingers impatiently until the clerk looked up. She was pretty in her own way, especially surrounded by the rest of the bureaucracy. She wasn't a looker by any means, but she wasn't terribly homely. Aeron leaned over the desk.

"Hello love. Mind helping a poor man find his means?" He asked, winking slyly. She sighed and pushed a form across the desk. Aeron took it and held it up, squinting to make out her tiny handwriting.

Name: Aeron Darkhair

Age: 24

Skills: Persuasion, Intimidation, Mathematics, Subterfuge, Rhetoric

Past Experience: Worked as a house-servant during childhood, and as a merchant's clerk/information dealer up until very recently.

He gave the form a quick once-over before sliding it back across the desk.

Parah

The clerk nodded his understanding and shuffled through some papers for a few moments muttering to himself. He paused on two sheets, quickly skimming them over before setting them both down and jotting something down with his quill. Finally he returned his attention to Parah.

"Okay.. unfortunately to work at the Healing Hand, even as a doctor's assistant, you need some form of medical training. As for the House of Immortal Pleasures, they always have openings, but you will probably have to do more than just give massages. If you are interested, however, I can get you in touch with them and you can have your audition."

OOCAt the moment there isn't a Masseuse profession in the price list, but I have requested that one be added.

Yaotl

When the clerk finally looked up at her it was with raised brows and an admiring gaze. After a day of looking after one plain boring citizen after another, Yaotl was certainly a sight for sore eyes. It was meeting people like her that made his job all the more worthwhile, because he was able to find out all about them, something he would never have the nerve to do on his own. Looking over the sheet of paper he frowned a bit. It looked more like an application to the Ebonstryfe than a form for a simple job. Interrogation? Exotic weaponry?

"What sort of work suits your preferences, madam? We have mercenary jobs available, if that's what you want. Or if you are looking for something more official, there might be some guard slots open."

Aeron Darkhair

As the only woman working in the CEB, at least as one of the desk clerks, she was used to men hitting on her. Unphased by Aeron's attempts to charm her she took his paperwork and quickly skimmed over it. He had an assortment of skills, it seemed, but most of them leaned toward more social jobs.

"What sort of work were you looking for, Sir?"

OOCSorry for taking so long on this, guys. Life has been very hectic lately and sometimes I forget this thread. Feel free to PM me if I'm taking more than a few days to respond.

A mercenary position?

When Yaotl heard that word, that horrible little word, her forced polite façade slipped and her lipped curled just the slightest in disgust. Mercenaries weren't much in the world, not to her. They were men and women looking for easy money, one step away from being raiders or some form of barbarian tribe. No, she would aim for something a little more meaningful.

"I believe employment as a guard would suit me more," she said, a little too sharply perhaps. "And where does one find themselves arranged with actual work?"

She had to push and pull the disdain that had crept forward away from sight. It was too early to cause a sour impression. Silver tongues wagging too freely could end her future here if she played too rough. Or, seeing the nature of Ravok firsthand, maybe the churn of the rumour mill wouldn't be so bad. A reputation could mean a lot in this place.

Her attention refocused on the clerk, and she managed to flash him with a bright smile that contrasted her former expression horribly.

What positions was he looking for? He needed an in-road to the information network of Ravok, and not every job would provide that. He didn't want to end up cleaning up after animals in the markets.

"A clerk, a scribe, a secretary. Anything that allows me access to numbers and books. That's where my talents truly lie," he said, not mentioning how easy it was to use those fields to ferret out secrets. That's what he'd spent most of his life doing and if luck was good it's what he would start doing again soon.

Yaotl

"City guard positions are under the authority of the Ebonstrfye. You answer to them and follow their orders. Basically your job would be to patrol the streets, or whatever your assigned area is, and keep the peace. If you would rather a guard position in the private sector, the Nitrozian family is hiring guards to protect their Estate."

Aeron Darkhair

The clerk nodded rummaged through his files for a moment before he withdrew a sheet of parchment with some writing on it.

"Alright. We have a job for you down at the Shipyard as a shipments clerk. You would be keeping track of shipment records to and from the city. Item quantity, value in mizas, things of that nature."

OOCSorry again for taking so long to respond to these. Feel free to send me a PM if I am taking too long.

64th Day of Spring, 512 AV

Ciel stepped into the Center for Employment and Business Licensing, a frown on his face. He didn't want to deal with the government of Ravok more than necessary, considering his past experiences with them hadn't exactly ended on a high note, but this was a necessary evil if he intended to finally get out of the drudgery that was shopkeeping and into a true profession. Medicine. The thought occurred to him as he reached for the form that the city might have some issues with him taking on the same profession as his mother, but he disregarded it.

No harm in trying. And if not...well, he did have a bit of a touch for poison. Maybe he could make himself useful in other ways. But he would keep that a secret for now. He had no desire to get involved in anything too dark if it wasn't necessary. He picked up the quill and began to write.

Name: Ciel Galen

Age: 20

Skills: Medicine, herbalism, good observational skills

Past Experience: Medical training and apprenticeship.

He handed the form to the clerk. "I've recently completed my basic medical training, and I was hoping to get an actual job in medicine," he explained as the clerk read over the form.

Work for a well off family like the Nitrozian one? Yaotl couldn't argue with that particularly juicy opportunity.

Yaotl's smile returned to much kinder waters as it lit across her face to the clerk opposite her.

"I would be glad to take a position among the guards of the Nitrozian estate," she said, even then possessing the tone of loftiness.
