Piraen Saneka
The man at the counter eyed Pi for a bit, clearly unimpressed with the fact that he was a citizen, and especially unimpressed with the fact that he was a kelvic. Few Ravokian's had a fondness for non-humans and outsiders, and whether he was a citizen or not, Piraen would find himself no different. He would forever suffer the ire of any Ravokian he had yet to prove his worth to, and even if he did prove his worth, they still might treat him as little better than a slave. It was, however, the clerks job to assign all citizens and eligible outsiders jobs, regardless how much he disliked them.
"A tailor, are you? Well.. I doubt you are worth Miss Wickham's time, plus she already has a kelvic working for her. No, I think I have a position here that is more suited to someone like you. You'll report to the Vitrax for work from here on. They need someone to stitch up clothing for the prisoners, make new uniforms, things like that. You'll be paid 4 gold mizas a day, which I honestly believe is too much for an animal, but that's what the form says. Do you accept?"
OOCYou may of course decline, but the 4gm/day is the price for a regular tailor anyway so you aren't losing anything. If you want the job, I'll give you more details in the next post. |
Alisdair Mckennan
A kelvic.. working on other animals? If it didn't make so much sense, it would have been laughable. But the clerk truly found himself speechless as he read over Alisdair's credentials. It was true, Ravok had very few veterinarian's. They weren't really needed, to be honest, as most people simply discarded their pets or kelvics that were too sick to be of any value to them anymore. That aside, a floating city was no place for most animals who would have little space to excercise or walk about. Even so, there was a position he could give this man.
"Well... while it is rather unusual.. you do have the necessary skill to practice your craft. I.. well, I guess they could use you down at the Healing Hand. From what I understand they don't usually deal with animals, but if someone needed a vet, I suppose that is where they would go. Unless you were looking to start your own private practice?"
OOCIf you want to work at the healing hand, respond to this thread. If you want a private practice, PM me and wait for me to give you more information. |
Maedoc
Perhaps the worst part about his job was dealing with ignorant people. Maedoc found himself unfortunate to be in line behind the youth who tried to question his wages. As the two argued, the clerk grew more an more irritated. By the time Maedoc finally stepped forward, the clerk was about ready to explode.
"Well of course you are looking for work," the clerk bellowed, his face turning red with anger. "Everyone in this petching building is looking for work! How do you think I'm going to find you a job when all you do is walk up and state the obvious!? Why not tell me something useful, like what kind of job your looking for, or what you know how to do!?"
Maedoc might have been a bit taken aback by the merchant's response, but there was really nothing he could do. If he wanted work, he would have to deal with the angry man. If he talked back, it would mean he would likely go hungry. In Ravok, you did not usually get second chances, and most people had no choice but to suck up to the clerks at the CEB. They might not have any official authority, but in some ways, they were some of the most powerful people in Ravok. |
