Hawk Basic Information Race: Inarta Birthday & Age: Spring 491 19 Years of Age Gender: Male Physical Description A young man considered tall by those of his people, Hawk stands at a height of about 5 foot 11 inches which is tall for an Inarta and he weighs in 154 pounds which makes him quite light. Hawk’s frame is light, an effect of his profession amongst his people and he routine of expercise regimes to keep himself in top form. As a Hunter he is often required to go out into the mountains to gather game, which requires him often to stalk his prey slowly and act with lightning reflexes gained through intense training, and of course this requires him to keep his weight low to allow for him to move with speed. He achieves this through choosing a careful diet and also by a regime of running and training to keep himself in shape. Hawk is considered as a handsome youth and even as a Yasi many Inarta remarked that he would grow to become a very handsome looking man, some women of the Endal sometimes even remarked that they hoped he would become a Dek so they could have their way with him. Thankfully for him he had managed to avoid such a fate, however he had indeed been blessed with looks as good as any. He maintains long striking red hair that sits several inches bellow his shoulders, others often remark on his hair’s beauty as the sun strikes it revealing orange and gold natural highlights. His face is as much a draw to the eyes as his hair as his fair and smooth skin are to be desired and his lips full. His eyes are a focus for his features as they take on a very deep almost shaded gold which becomes a striking yellow toward the edge. Character Concept Hawk is a very headstrong independent young Inarta man, he was once always the first to speak up as a Yasi and the first to jump into help a friend or even make a friend. However in more recent days Hawk has changed, as he took on his role as an Avora Hunter he has become more seclusive and darker as he has made an important realization in his life. He has been introduced to how fickle life really is, how easy it is to lose simply by having to go out into the mountains and hunt. He knows all too well that the simplest slip could mean death, that a single arrow could spell ones doom and it is this reason that he has become fairly cynical about the world and has retreated more into his mind. He is never one to lie, always preferring truth and never understanding the reasoning behind ones lies for it offers no benefactor at all. He also has no respect for those willing to commit abuse on a whim, his mother was a Dek of course picked out by an unknown higher caste male and seeing her pain the few times she could see him before he was sent to the nursery pushed him. He has vowed never to treat anyone life that, never to play with the emotions of others and it has put him in conflict before, and it will do again. Character History Before Hawk had entered the world of the Inarta his mother, Anya, was a simple Dek working for the city as nothing more than a cloth weaver for a wealthy Avora man. Her cloth was often traded during mid summer to humans from the south and east, but at the end of the day she was a Dek destined to a life or labour until her death, that was until something happened to give the women hope. She met a middle aged Endal man, one of the eagler riders whom seemed to take a shine to the women. It was too good to be true, she ignored all the thoughts of betrayal even though it was common place for an Endal to take their pick of the lower castes and she obliged all his wishes for several months, until one day he simply disappeared from her life. Distraught Anya did very little else but work, fully aware after a few weeks that she was pregnant she gave in to her fate knowing that this was her life, but she did not want this for her child. After a few more long months of labor Hawk was born named after his mothers favourite bird, but this was but a blip in her mothers life for she did not wish for a child at the time however she tried to do the best she could but it was inevitable. By the age of two the young Hawk was sent to one of the communal Nurseries to live out his youth, there was little his mother could really do to support him as like most children born to Dek mothers but this was the norm. As Hawk grew as a young Yasi he showed great promise as a painter at first showing an eye for detail and the finer aspects for art however even then that was not his calling. In reality Hawk loved music, he just loved hearing the vibrant sounds available in Wind Reach form the sharp high pitched sounds of the piccalo to the low warm brooding sounds of the wooden oboe. From the age of nine he was taught to play the flute, and by the age of ten he was gifted with his mothers old flute which had been passed down for many many years. As a teenage Yasi Hawk undertook much education as society tried to find his calling in life, tried to pick out his skills to make him a functioning member of the Inarta culture, and for a young boy with an eyes detail, for sound and a handy man with a bow there wasn’t a much better calling than the hunter. Hawk took to the hunting craft quickly, he was a natural to the craft as he had a keen sense of sight, sense of hearing and quick bow arm. He would make the perfect addition to society after a few years of training…. Weak Spots for Hunting Hawk knows the weak spots of animals like mountain goats, sheep and even bears and other predators of the area around Wind Reach. This allows him to pick out the perfect place to shoot to secure a kill. Equipment and Possessions Clothing Casual Wear – Hawk’s general Casual outfit is even then still tailored to that of a hunter in a fashion. He wears a pair of dark deeply tanned leather breaches tied off with a very thin leather belt, the buckle of which is very cheap made from very simple tarnished iron. With these he wears a pair of worn low boots, worn in from their use on hunts and walking on the hard rock ground of Wind Reach. He does not like wearing tunics or garments on his upper body feeling that they restrict him too much and of course, he likes the feel of the sun across his chest in mid summer. He does however own a woolen cloak for use during the autumn and winter months but even this rarely sees use. Weapons 1 Composite Horn Shortbow – A shortbow given to Hawk by his tutor as a gift as much as a tool. The weapon is made from shaped and recurved horn polished with boiling water and white dye. The bow is very powerful and requires a degree of strength to pull the string, and can strain a mans arm trying to pull back the string which gives Hawk difficulty if trying to nail a difficult shot. 20 Flight Arrows – Used to increase the range of the bow, almost a requirement in the mountainous terrain around Wind Reach. The flute is of exquisite quality made from a very dense, orange-red tinted heartwood that is lacquered to give it a real shine – especially in the sun of mid summer. The flute itself is long having ten holes for controlling pitch which gives it an unsually expansive register of notes, combined with its fairly large register and length the flute is capable of producing a lot of sound to fill an expansive space. The instrument also has a broad chimney plate giving it very good acoustics and also has very elliptical shaped holes, a broad bore and a diameter to match its length which gives the instrument a very clear and warm sound. 1 Tuning Fork – a 2 pronged fork tuned to the same note as Hawk’s flute, B Major. Property Wind Reach Residence – Hawk has a small dwelling in Wind Reach, really a small room along one of the many winding corridors of the settlement. It contains very sparse furniture however does have a small open window (with shutters to be used in the winter months) with a commanding view over the mountains.
