Basic Information Birth date/Age: 46th Day of Summer 492 AV/22 Gender: Male Physical Description The slender frame reaches its peak at 5’10” without the two to three inches of long shaded blonde strands of hair spiking in an unorthodox, yet intriguing style. He has a consistent grit of spackled facial hair that patterned surprisingly thick on his jaw, and ranges in shades all over from white to black but the overall consistency matches just a tone lighter than the hair on his scalp. His eyes are piercing blue, yet he diminishes this with always half closing his upper eyelid, seeming to look as if he is about to nod off at any minute. When he is pretending to be a beggar, he wears a long sleeved baggy tunic that has shredded cloth all over. Surprising, however, his sleeves are the only parts repaired, and tailored, though sloppy and uneven. He wears tattered leather pants with nicks and stiches strewn threw and a few gaping holes displaying his pale skin. Even with his terrible clothing his body figure is still noticeable enough to tell he can and must have performed labor intensive tasks. Hayl slouches all the time, he found perhaps subconsciously that this manner keeps people’s eyes off of him and he matches the poor and homeless look quite with his miserable posture. His heavy boots can be heard dragging as he uncaringly walks, perhaps intoxicated or stupid. No visible weapons and nothing interesting on his person, save perhaps the silver chain around his neck, very thin, but the gleam would catch anyone’s eye. Those thin chains always carry something precious at the end of them. When he is not pretending to be a beggar, he enjoys fine clothing like a dark silk shirt and pants with no holes in them. He will keep his posture straight and walk with more pride in his step. A weathered but confident look composes his face, yet his eyes never really settle on those he talks to. Perhaps he suffers from an injury, or he really isn’t listening. Maybe he has one of those attention disorders, regardless, to have his complete focus would be a challenge. Concept Hayl enjoys the onset of his tattered look and prefers to keep the majority of his combat scenarios while he is in his beggar clothing. He feels if he was placed in an altercation that his poor appearance would mean a possible upper hand for being under estimated. His tactics are quick, and powerful, but costly if countered or missed. When sneaking or stealing, he will dress up in his more formal wear. Not really sure why, but if asked he would probably say something like “My audience deserve the best I can give them.” By audience he would be referring to his victims. With that he has tight clothing that doesn’t make a flapping sound when he moves fast, or anything loose that could get snagged on something. He has a surprisingly introverted way of talking about himself. Not hesitant to voice his opinion but prefers for people to know as little about him as possible. His secluded way of living makes him hard to hold relationships, so his friends are few and far. Being very sarcastic, he can be stand offish, yet his few friends he does have are very important to him and he would fight to the death for him, though he may not admit it. He is a strong willed individual, after receiving years of abuse from his father, though he has a soft spot in his heart for women like any other average man would. (Mommy issues and what not.) Hayl suffers from Alektorophobia. History Hayl’s mother was a loving woman who cared only for him. Hayl never met his father, and the number of men his mother had been with, made it impossible for her to guess. When Hayl was ten she sold herself to be a consort for a gang leader. The man took minimal care for Hayl, yet was convinced he needed to know combat in order to grow into a man. Viewing himself as a father to Hayl he taught him everything he knew; how to lie, cheat, and steal. All the terrible traits did not mesh well with his mother’s upbringing, but he did adapt well to dagger combat and thieving. When Hayl’s mother grew sick one day, the man was upset with her for not being able to perform her ‘duties’, he then in a fit of anger told Hayl, once his mother died he is no longer welcome. Hayl grew to dislike the man more than ever, and had no problem leaving once his mother finally perished. She left him her pendant, and the morale influences her miserable existence could muster. Goals Hayl first needs to establish a reputation. In a perfect sense of it, that would be declaring that Hayl is the best at acquiring items that other people have, (Stealing is such a dirty word) for a price. Rarely, besides money, will he steal items for himself. But if there happens to be the perfect dagger, or interesting trinket, or delicious meal… he may not be able to help himself. He is a sucker for fine shirts also, and refuses to wear one that has any sort of tarnish on it. (When he is in fancy mode.) Once his reputation is at a level he would deem adequate, he would pursue networking. Obtaining information from people is about as good as obtaining their money, if not its better. If he could find out the real dirt on people, Hayl would love to exploit them and do it at the most fiscally advantageous moment. (Unless that person where a true friend) After having legitimate feelers in the city, Hayl would start a troupe of equals. Only his most trusted would he work with to go into item acquiring full-time.
