Vergil is a blunt, passionate and results-driven individual with a dislike for sloppiness and inefficiency. To most he is a quiet extrovert, sociable and charming when in the right mood, but to those close to him, he can be rather critical and sharp-tongued. Though his intelligence would suggest an appreciation for theory, Vergil prefers experience and more hands on work. General rather than specific ideas work best for him, as he finds the latter restricting. Vergil can be self-centered as he often places his interests first, though he will always try to accommodate his web and community. Though he is materialistic, he is conservative with money, preferring to spend it on items of longevity. Like most logic oriented thinkers, Vergil finds difficulty in expressing more intimate emotions and struggles to empathize with others, appearing distant as a result. Vergil enjoys taking charge and with the confidence and a strong will, he makes for a natural leader. In a position of power, the desire to manipulate and control grows tempting to the young Symenestra, who has developed an interest in Hypnotism for that very reason. In terms of religion, he worships Viratas solely because the god's views correlate with his. To Vergil, surrogacy is necessary blood shed in protecting ones family and community. He could hardly care about tainted blood when the survival of the Symenestra race hangs in the balance. His racism lies elsewhere, mainly in the sunborn and their cities on the surface. Ethics: "To be happy, we must not be too concerned with others." Vergil is a personal ethical egoist, meaning he believes that morally correct decisions are those that benefit his self interests, but does not think that others need to follow the same principles. It endorses selfishness but not foolishness, as it does not require one to choose a decision that may harm the interests or well-being of others like individualism (where the interest of others are disregarded). But maybe you should, if it prevents you from feeding yourself." Growing up in an infamous web, Vergil found it difficult as a child to make friends, often retreating to the company of his web. Fortunately he was close in age with Dalinus and Dra-Sofiya, and the three often played together as children. Until their adolescence, the trio were often spotted together: the charming cousin, the honest firstborn and the brilliant half-breed. However, once duty and responsibility entered their respective lives, the three found little time to see each other though their bonds remain strong. After gaining more experience in the harvest, Dalinus offered to bring Vergil alone in hopes that he would be better prepared for his own. Wishing to spite his Esterian uncle, he readily accepted. Though Dalinus's tactics were non-violent, there was a dark tone to his cousin's nature that both shocked and amazed the young Symenestra. Fascinated by the control he held over the surrogates, for the first time, Vergil anticipated the day of his first harvest. Sorrel Vergil was the first and only child of Nasya, a known Esterian. His father, a dancer instructor named Valyon, soon remarried to Sola, a beautiful and intelligent librarian. The quick arrangement raised eyebrows and begot rumours, with some accusing the meek Valyon for agreeing with Nasya's wish to give birth just to be rid of her, rather than to break the engagement himself. This only added to the list of questionable behaviour from the Sorrel web, for many of his father's family were rumoured or confirmed Esterians, eccentric folk and/or surface lovers. Vergil simply sees the Sorrel as selfish and curious Symenestra, striving for goals despite the opinions of their small society. His uncle, Valyon's brother, Domvin, is a rather vocal Esterian who continues to pressure both Vergil and his father to share his views. He too is a widow, with his son Dalinus as his only child. Vergil and his elder cousin share a close bond which is only trumped by the one he has with his sister, Dra-Sofiya. Though he loves her greatly, the Symenestra resents his mother for her inability to keep her legs closed. Years later, the Sorrel were gifted with another child through surrogacy, a boy named Vidal. The home is roughly 20x20 in size, pear shaped, and includes a hearth, bunk, chest, chair, and small table. Details :
The houses in Kalinor don’t look anything like what you are used to. They aren’t square, they aren’t angular, and they don’t stand on the ground. Instead they are roughly pear shaped or shaped like a drop and hang from the ceiling. They don’t have windows, and the entrance is located at or near the very top of the house. From there a silk rope usually leads down, towards the living quarters. Symenestra homes usually don’t have a lot of rooms, but niches in the walls where the individual members of a Web store their things or sleep behind curtains. The houses are made of stalactites or stones, and they are connected to each other by thick cords of silk.
