5th day of Spring, 512 AV
Who would've thought a man like Idue would be enrolling in a university after all he had been through. The Benshira had lived his entire life tending to the herds of his family. He learned nothing more than what was needed to care for his animals. And to defend himself if danger ever found him. Which was worth it because he found exactly that in Sunberth. He didn't find his mother, nor did he discover his desire to get an education. But after arriving in Zeltiva, and surviving the storm that wrecked the city, Idue decided he wanted to learn something practical while he was here. Become intelligent before he died. Which in a life Idue had been living, this probably wasn't so difficult.
So Idue visited the University where only days before he nearly witnessed a man die. A mere outing to a Ball ended up to be the biggest danger Zeltiva had seen. Atleast until six days later when the storm hit. And Idue was sad to say he enjoyed the danger at the Winter Ball. The wariness that any of this rich snobs could be a murderer. Even watching blood flow from Faylon, a man he considered a friend in this city, was vigorating. Idue was glad the man recovered, or was recovering, but that fateful night brought out the thing Idue was tried to bury away. His bloodlust.
Which was why Idue decided to enroll into the University; to find something to fill his time. Something to take his mind off of spilling blood, his weakness that no follower of Yahal should enjoy. So after being directed to the East Wing where temporary registering were being held; the person Idue had spoke to said something about the West Wing being demolished in the storm. While he walked down the halls, Idue considered what classes he wanted to take. He had decided after speaking with the student that he only wished to take two classes. This way he still had part of his life to do as he pleased. And the man had said two classes meant he would be provided a dorm to stay in for the season. That had peaked Idue's interest. He enjoyed the inn he was staying at, but a dorm where he knew he would have for a whole season was inviting.
But what classes would he take? The man Idue had spoken to, who the Benshira had realized was very helpful, explained a few of the classes one could take at this school. No martial training, so Idue wouldn't be hacking on other students with his axes. And he wasn't very interested in the fine arts like painting or acting. Magic on the other hand peaked Idue's interest. The student had mentioned a few classes like morphing, glyphing, and flux. The first two he didn't understand very well, and flux was something he had briefly seen in action. But one magical disipline interested him. Auristics. The ability to see the aura of those around you. That was something Idue could learn to use.
So caught up in his personal thoughts, Idue barely registered that he was standing in front of the clerk. The question the man, who introduced himself as Sanderson. The man was rather mischevled, brought upon by the west wing crumbling. So Idue was brief. "My name is Idue and I wish to study at the University. The courses I desire to study in is Auristics and. . ." Idue paused. He had thought so hard on his first course that he didn't decide on his second. His brow furrowed, and released the first thought that came to mind.
"What history classes do you offer at the University?" |
