Music in the Dark (Shale)

Shale stifled a mild chuckle at Alphonse reprimanding Revera. The performer nodded, chiming in with "business before pleasure, you know." She gave a wave of her left arm towards Alphonse and Stew. "Good luck!"

Covering up her feelings of anxiousness was starting to annoy the performer.
Just when things seemed so hopeful, that creeping feeling, when one can't help but notice those little issues around. The look of the eyes, the position of the mouth, the repeated invitations to eat. This whole day has been out of whack; and Alphonse and his helpers weren't making Shale any more at ease.

Regardless of whether Alphonse had quite left or not, she reclaimed her previous seat, addressing Revera as she did so. "So, how familiar are you with the fair city of Syliras?"

Alphonse and Stew were already out the door and it was shutting behind them as Shale wished them good luck. She briefly heard Alphonse saying something out in the hall, but it was too muffled by the door for her to make sense of. Revara meanwhile grinned at Shale's comment and gave her shoulder a little rub, "With company like you, how can business not be pleasurable?"

"I know a little of it," Revara continued in response to Shale's question as he took the seat next to her at the table, "Mostly just stories that I've heard. This is my first actual visit to it, as my kind aren't exactly welcomed here," he finished with a grin that revealed his long and sharp pair of canines.

For a time Revara fell silent, but even though he didn't speak his eyes roamed over Shale's body slowly. While to the casual observer it might appear that he was simply looking her over, as a man would typically do with an attractive woman, but if Shale looked a little closer she could see that it was not typical lust that brightened his eyes and caused his lips to curve up slightly in a faint smile. There was a definite feeling of darkness to Revara's bearing and movements.

"What have you discovered of the note," Revara finally spoke again, gesturing to the paper that Shale still held, "Maybe, if you talk with me about it, we can help to unravel any remaining mysteries?"

"Aha ha," The entertainer gave a slow, dry chuckle at the business comment.

But over all, Shale wasn't quite sure how to handle this. Her suspicions confirmed, he was nonhuman, but just what? She leered at him for a few moments, fixated on Revera's teeth as he smiled. Her brow furrowed as he asked of the note.

"Well, take a look at the depiction, it should be a fair size, and easy to recognize. The confusing part is where Matthew scratched off Syliras, like as if he was sure it wasn't there... but because of all the madness that seems connected to it here in the city, it should be here." Shale shrugged, trying to ignore the unease that seemed to surround Alphonse's compatriots. "Guess it was moved."

Revara turned his gaze to the paper for a time, muttering softly to himself as he looked it over, and then turned his grin back to Shale finally, "Yes, that is quite the mystery. Maybe it was moved, or perhaps Matthew was mistaken? You have no thoughts on where else it might be in the city? No little hints or guesses even? Alphonse is looking, but perhaps together we could turn a simple gut feeling of yours into a solid clue."

Standing up from the table Revara made his way around to stand beside Shale, his hands draping lightly upon her shoulders, "Perhaps a relaxing bath would help you to think better? They have personal ones here we could use," his black fingernails trailed along Shale's clothing, and the way they caught on the occasional thread showed that they were indeed as sharp as they looked.

He leaned down, his breath warm against Shale's ear as he softly whispered, "I even have some talent in massage. Surely you deserve some relaxed pampering after all you've been through Shale," the faint breathiness in his voice might have been desire, but something about his tone caused Shale's blood to grow colder and her hairs to stand on end.

Shale was about to accept the offer of a nice bath, anything to get her mind off of how odd the entire day had been so far, when she mentally shook herself. What was she thinking? There was a hunt for an object of great power, and she was thinking about a massage treatment?!

The Kelvic performer was more than disappointed with herself. If she was going to be so easily swayed when on a mission for the sake of Matthew himself, how could there be any chance that she will be able to meet her grand goal?

Visibly, there was a narrowing of the eyes and her smile faded slightly. "Perhaps some other time." Shale paused. "I think I have an idea." She turned the note over. "What about this line and the marks along it. I don't suppose it looks like a musical score to you, does it?"

At Shale's denial Revara was still for a few breaths, and then slowly withdrew his head from next to her ear, his hands and sharp black fingernails still upon her shoulders, "I suppose it could be music, but," he paused, and a bit of curiosity entered his voice, "It actually looks more like a cave map to me."

Removing one hand from Shale's shoulder the pale skinned man leaned forward and lightly traced the meandering path, "The way it curves back and forth smoothly is much like a cavern would, and the marks usually indicate things such as dangers and wrong paths," Revara turned a fanged grin to Shale, "That's it! It must be hidden in a cave, and this is the map to it! Do you know of any caves nearby, oh lovely muse?"

There was something more to Revara's grin now. While before it had certainly held the hunger of desire, a look Shale had probably seen before, now the hunger it contained seemed more primal, like an animal even. It gave her the chilling impression that he literally wished to eat her, not the figurative sense that some used in their flirtations.

Shale was smiling back with a giddy feeling that came only when a chase was reignited. For those simple marks to be a possible major clue...

But, it was a cave-system? How interesting. She could see why this Revera person was under the employ of someone so wealthy. Speaking of which, her smiled faded, after going on for all of about five seconds. It took so much of Shale's experience just to keep her expression from going sour, and acting under pressure (be it real or imagined) wasn't her specialty. She felt compelled to try and defuse a possibly bad, outcome.

The Kelvic performer looked into Revera's eyes. Possibly very bad, outcome. If she had a tail, she'd be tucking it in between her legs.

Shale swallowed. "Nothing around Syliras." She looked towards the plate of food, virtually untouched. "I have to admit though, I rarely get a chance to eat here, and I'd say we're doing rather well. Care, to, join me?"

In response to Shale's question Revara grew silent and contemplative, far more thoughtful than one would expect for a simple request to eat, and then grinned at Shale, revealing his pair of sharp fangs that seemed to be slowly extending downwards, "Well, if there's time to eat then there's certainly time for more enjoyable pursuits as well..."

His hand came up to brush lightly against the side of Shale's neck, brushing aside some of her hair, and he slowly leaned down once more. He paused as his lips neared her ear, and his hot breath washed over her skin as he whispered, "You deserve a bit of fun Shale, and surely it would be more enjoyable than simply eating some cooked meat," the raw carnal desire she had seen in his look tinged his voice now as he continued to move his head downwards, his breath hot against the side of her neck as his lips moved to kiss the skin over the artery located there.

Shale could feel her face getting hot. It took but a moment to feel the panic trying to take a grip on her.

Shale reminded herself as she always did when she started to get emotional. Matthew always said that Kelvics were "somewhat" impulsive and emotional. "Not good for a performer if you have trouble with keeping an act in motion, dear." She leaned away from Revera and took a deep breath.

...even if fright was probably a proper thing to feel at the moment...

Shale exhaled as a long sigh and spoke carefully. "Now, now, down boy. Alphonse already said, no fooling around."

Shale's words caused Revara to pause once more, but after a moment he firmly placed a hand on each of her shoulders. His sharp black nails pressed sharply Shale's tunic and skin, not enough to pierce either, and his hot breath tickled her ear, "He said no playing until we were done with the paper, and what secrets could it still hold? We don't know of what cave the map is for, but I'm sure Alphonse will be able to find that out easily. Besides," his grip on her shoulders loosened slightly as he moved to kiss her neck once more, "It'll be quick, and he doesn't need to know. Just give in for a little bit, it'll be wonderful."

As Revara moved to place a few more kisses on Shale's neck she could feel the pointed tips of his elongated fangs brushing against her skin. A shudder passed through Revara's body, and for a brief moment it seemed like he intended to bite down and pierce her skin with his sharp teeth. The moment passed though, and he resumed with his heated kisses.
