"I want to have a pavilion someday," Sama'el said, sharing his life goal, "so I need to save as much as I can. I don't need to be rich, but I need to be able to support a wife, or wives, and children. I need the actual pavilion, but I need horses, livestock, everything like that. I don't mind starting small, but I have to work and earn the ability to support all those things. And then I will be an Ankal." He smiled at Zakal. "Don't worry. Two hunters are better than one. Hopefully we can carry home enough game to feed us and save some and make some money on top of that." He nodded at Zakal's suggestion and halted their progress. A word in Pavi was all it took to set Dohaina to watchfulness. This was something she had become used to already. Sama'el closed his eyes and took a deep breath before he began to regulate his breathing, following the flow in and out until he reached a state of relaxed concentration where he was able to step outside of his body, the world suddenly teeming with criss-crossing lines of energy. It always seemed more concentrated the closer he was to Endrykas, but even out here there were flows of information to tap. Seeing Zakal's curious gaze upon his body, the silvery etheric body of Sama'el brightened with amusement and then swam down a stream of energy on the lookout for easy prey. It took him several minutes to change courses, letting the flow of information take him, tasting what was coming in from different directions, and then come back to himself. Climbing back into his flesh, everything tingled as if his limbs had fallen asleep, but his eyes fluttered open, and he gave a shaky smile and took a quavering breath. "Zibri," he said. "A good sized herd." He took a few steadying breaths, testing his balance, then shot a grin at Zakal a grin before Dohaina took off in a new direction, presumably toward the cattle-like beasts. |
