[Flashback] Misunderstanding (Sairque)

Summer 504 Av Flashback

Osami almost cheered in joy as he looked upon the rough white rock along the table. The rock in question was really called talc which was really nothing special to a person. However Osami was just not any person he was a Philterer and Talc meant so many things to him as he moved about the room pulling up random tools and bottles for him to get to work.

His goal was to use to Talc and turn it into a sunscreen paste which could be used for hunting parties. Really it was just another way he could be useful towards the city and also learn more about different things inside test tubes and bottles as he took a small glass plate and a knife in his hands.

Osami was a male Inarta standing around five feet and nine inches give or take. His short thick orange hair stood out the most along his body, however it was normal in his race for bright red shades of hair, few would take note of his light blue shade eyes. He was almost always shirtless like the rest of the males of his race which in turn showed off the muscles along his thin frame along his stomach and arms. He might have worked with potion items all more often then anything however even he found the need to keep his body in shape. His black Bryda and thick sole black boots was the only real outfit he wore more often then not. All in all just a common looking Inarta or at least he thought so.

With the knife in hand Osami slowly started to scrape along the Talc using the plate to catch the shavings. Talc was not a very hard rock to really break apart so the step of the work moved pretty quickly as Osami ran the blades edge along it back and forth keeping his mind focused on the task at hand.

Once he was more then happy with the amount he placed the plate down before looking at his oils which he picked up a small jar of almond oil to be used in the recipe. However as he did he moved to the table flipping open a book he almost always carried on him which told him different recipes he could make with his craft that his mother had given him. This was another easy type but then again he thought most of it was easy for it just all clicked in his head.

The water was already inside the still as he placed the Talc shavings inside which mixed with the water. The flame under it would boil the water which would become steam that would then travel up a pipe and drip in another chamber. The goal was for the talc to have bonded and mixed with the water in the steam which then he could be able to use better for his project.
It would have taken the longest time truth be told for the small flame under the glass still was not hot enough to burn the glass but just enough so it would bring it slowly to a boil. He did not have any fresh plants he could chop up and place in the still to help so the oils would mix and blend but that is what he had the almond oil which he would add afterwards.

His eyes scanned the page of the book. He was still missing a few things to add inside the mix he saw but he had to wonder deep down if he could find them. The main thing he was missing once more was beeswax but he was unsure if he could find any in any of the places around the city. He never did enjoy the idea of going out in the wild trying to find it himself either alone for the sheer fact he was far from a grand hunter. The people who knew him around Wind Reach knew he stayed away from trying to hunt and did other things to help out such as making different balms for everyone.

He just had to sigh in the end of his mental debate as he paced around in circles thinking of what to do. He could have always put it off until later however he did find that to be such a pain in the neck as he ran though a list of ideas inside his head of things to do.

[Flashback] Misunderstanding (Sairque)

Postby Sairque on May 16th, 2011, 7:21 pm

Tongue clicking against the roof of her mouth, the youth crouched in front of the giant Eagle’s roosting form. Through the mouth of the aerie, the sun bathed their lands in golden life and graciously illuminated the path of the gentle breezes. Small form fairly bursting with energy, Sai poked and prodded and adjusted all the gear stretched out before her. Most of it was second hand from older Endals, scuffed, bruised, battered and patched up repeatedly. She had two tents, two bed rolls, two water skins, two pots, two knives, two simple tin bowls, a bow, a full quiver, two field healing kits, two towels, one flint and steel, one tin of blue mold ration, one field dress kit, and one spare outfit. She surveyed her goods, biting her lip and almost bouncing. It looked like everything she would need.

You know where we’re going right? she asked Catabasis, who didn’t even open an eye but responded in the affirmative.

And I’ve never been there? Another answer in the affirmative.

Do you want to carry him in your talons or on your back? This time one giant golden eye opened and rotated around toward her.

He can ride with you, Sairque. She got the feeling that he seriously disliked the idea of a random boy that he’d never met much less heard of riding him. But she wanted to eat well out there, last time she’d gone hunting she’d almost ended up eating her rabbits raw.

Grouping the sleeping gear together, she fit it all into a large rear-riding saddlebag and attached it to the simple saddle already strapped on to Catabasis. Next, into a small pouch, went the culinary gear and the healing kit. The rest she smushed together into the third small bag. Those strapped to the sides of the saddle. Finally she slid her bow and arrows into the sheath, put one of the knives into the folds of the scarf wrapped round her hips like a sash and headed off in search of Addy’s herb buddy.

“I’ve got your sign, but I’m no Leth.” The voice preceded Sai’s short and sparse form through the door. A strapless white vinati with orange embroidery barely concealed her meager breasts, and matched the pair of bryda gathered at her calves. Blood red locks pulled back into a neat braid, no scarves or beads adorned them today. In her hand, she twirled an arrow, the tip brought to bear on Osami when she’d come fully into the room. A point to the youth, nothing more.

“Addy says you know your way around plants, I’d like you to accompany me on a two day hunt,” the young Endal informed him. For her, the transfer from powerless to powerful over the last year had been unsettling yet relieving. Ordering lesser castes around could be painful at times, her youthful inexperience leaving her bringing too much attitude to bear or not enough. This time, however, she was quite confident in her decision and application of power. Osami was coming with her, and he would be happy about it.

[Flashback] Misunderstanding (Sairque)

Postby Osami on May 16th, 2011, 8:47 pm

Osami almost jumped out of his skin when he heard the female voice. His heart racing as he turned to look at her but as he did a smile broke out along his lips. He knew her. At least some of her but they never really had one on one talks. She was Aidaras twin but that told him just a bit. He knew Aidara for awhile now yet never did manage to get to talk to Sairque he thought her name was.

“Oh? I am not good for hunting trips. Aidara might would be more helpful then I when it comes to herbs for healing.”

Osami said as he kept his smile in place. People could say he would use a smile to mask his feelings however he felt it was to show his feelings then anything else. He really was bad at hiding his emotions more often then not and could be blunt at times which was one of the reasons he did not have many people he could call for a friendship type company.

He really did misunderstand her demand for it clearly left no room for debate even if Osami took it as a debate. He knew she became an Endal not long ago as he still was just in the middle of any type of field being a Avora or artisan of sorts with his trade skill which dealt with Philtering mainly.

Osami took his eyes off of her as he moved about the little lab he was using. She was right. She was no Leth but she could still help as what were the chances of being offered (or told) to go in the wild areas outside the city for a few days when he really was going to see if any hunters could go and search for what he needed. Granted he did not share that with her but maybe he would not have to as he kept an eye on the still which was slowly coming to a boil.

“Do you know what I am planning on making with this Talc?” He asked her as his hand waved towards the white rock near him on the table. He had to wonder if she would even know that it was called Talc and even then would wonder if she knew what could be made out of it. He really did not know her field of passion yet would let her answer his question nonetheless.

“I have no idea how to hunt to save my life. I would just get in the way of any type of hunting party on top of that I don’t know how to fly.”

Osami said softly to himself more then anything even if she was the only one in the room as he took the knife scarping more of the rock off. He knew this test would be a failure for now even if he had what he needed for it. He had no other person he could trust to keep an eye on it and follow step by step things and even then he could not account for every problem that could form such as the heat or if the mixture was not right for some reason.

Maybe he needed to get out and about. Maybe this was a sign from some sort of god or maybe it was just random events that led to it that started before he could even recall. However the simple fact did stand in the way. He was clueless outside the city and would just get in the way of any type of wild hunting party.

“Did you know I could make something to help hunters? I would just need to research the animal and get said animal then I could try to make a potion that could bring other animals in the area such as larger types or even could aim for the same animal race. This is already can be made due to animal scents but I could try to make it more wider range.”

Osami said as he moved his hands about while talking. One of his traits that he spoke more with his body then just his voice alone. However as he got done talking he just smiled once more at her.

He knew her mostly from Addy’s talks so he knew once she said something she meant to get it even if it meant dragging the other person willing or not. He also knew she had that right due to her rank even if he would think she would respect his rank. Maybe that is why she told him and not just dragged him first.

His lungs filled with air before blowing out the flame over the still and he carefully moved about cleaning up his work area. While a Dek could do that he just would not trust one around the glassware that could break. Once he was done he would leave with her.

“Do I need anything for the trip?”

Maybe this would be more fun then it would seem off hand. Just maybe things would not go wrong and he would not die from falling off from her eagle before they even took off. Or maybe he was hoping to much.

“Addy is busy,” she informed him, deflecting his suggestion and tapping her palm with the arrow head. About to continue, she stopped short as he asked her about the talc, which she assumed was what the white rock he gestured to was called. Shaking her head, she walked up to the table and leaned down to get a closer look. It looked...white. And Rocky. While he continued on about hunting, she picked the mineral up. Feeling granules between her fingers, she flipped the rock over. He, or someone, had scraped a part off.

Pulling out the knife she’d just hidden away in her sash, Sai scraped at the rock, delighted at the way it crumbled off with a fun little chunk sound. Interesting. Yellow eyes came up to find him watching her expectantly, so she handed the rock over and he promptly started scraping at it again. Not listening as he talked about making something for animals, she leaned in close to the still, watching the boiling water and talc turn to steam and head up to the next chamber. Purifying something? Interesting.

Losing interest, the short redhead picked up her arrow again and turned to herb boy.

“Any supplies you might need to entertain yourself and do your work while I’m hunting. I have shelter and eating gear for you already. Meet me in my aerie in bell,” she informed him, lingering only another second for questions before taking her leave.

Already he was knew she far different then Addy. He already could tell he would enjoy Addy more. Yet he did not have any questions left for her. He really had no idea what to bring for hunting but maybe he could find a booklet about the herbs in the area in case they got hurt somehow. Well really that somehow was at a high risk with the idea of him hunting.

He did not even tell her he did not even own a bow. No his last bow was taken away and lost by his brother many years ago. However her words did catch him off guard on doing his work but his work had to be done in a lab. Something told him this was going to be a very long two days from Wind Reach.

Once he was done cleaning up he left for the Enclave which was the library for the city. All he needed was a simple herb book that talked about the different plants near the city. While he knew a bit about Herbalism he would not want to try to recall everything. Besides he could just borrow the book like always and just fail to talk about how he was going hunting with a simple lie or two.

Once the simple book was in his hands he went towards where he was told to go. Maybe things would not be so bad yet he did not brother with anything else other then his clothing on his body. He had no idea what to take and he was sure if he picked things out he would get the wrong items or over pack.

“Leth I pray that you will watch over us.”

Osami said slowly and softly under his breath as he went to find his kidnapper. Few would understand the reason why he would pray to Leth then another god but he found he enjoyed her ideals more suited for him. Maybe it was odd yet he was happy with his way of praying.

If he had more notice he would have made items to help cure cuts and other light wounds. If he had more notice he would have talked to Addy and had help in making things for worst case things such as burns from fires, bad weather, wild monsters attacking and other random thoughts that passed in his head.

He had days where he wish he could start over. He was hoping this would not turn into one of those days. Once he was with Sair he would do what she asked of him. Or in her case told him as she did seem to lack manners when it came to asking yet he did not blame her. If they were in a lab filled with glassware and potions then Osami would be telling her what to do and not to do however since he was in her field of expertise so he would listen to her orders.

[Flashback] Misunderstanding (Sairque)

Sai opened the door, having hardly heard the timid knock that was supposed to alert her of Osami’s presence. Already garbed in hunting gear, the Endal stepped aside and invited the plant man in with a flourish of her arm. They could have departed from the Courtyard, but that area would undoubtedly be swamped with people and Eagles already.

“Just in time,” she greeted with a smile, though it didn’t reach and dispel the cool focus that drew a somber mask over her features. “Bring your things this way.” Shutting the door behind him, the taciturn youth led the way through the common room she shared with Aidara to the chamber that housed the massive, ink black Eagle, Catabasis.

They left behind the room richly appointed in bright colors and thick furs and stepped forth into a crisp summer morning. The massive chamber, a chess set off to the right and wind chimes tinkling softly in the breeze, lay littered with nesting materials and devoid of their ride. Sai strode to the edge of the cliff, steps sure and calm as she leaned over to glance down toward the lakes far enough beneath them to just be little dots of blue. A breeze kicked up, drawing the plaited end of her braid and the tail of the splotched dark scarf hiding her dark shiny locks out over her shoulder. The wind beckoned, teasing her dark splotched bryda and long sleeved shirt, creating hypnotic ripples in the fabric, likes waves rolling home.

“We’ll take Catabasis out to a nearby hunting spot, just a half day’s ride. Aidara mentioned you needed to get some plants, so I thought we’d kill a few stags with one arrow. If you stay near camp, you shouldn’t be in any danger.”

Turning back to her companion, she ushered him toward the outskirts of the chamber. “Here he is.” No sooner had the words left her mouth than the chamber blacked out, a blinding light blacking out the silhouette of Catabasis’ fully expanded wings but not helping illuminate the aerie. The scratching of talons on stone echoed throughout, but Sai just gazed at the landing Eagle with wry affection. Suddenly, the room lightened again, the blue sky flashing back into sight as the magnificent bird folded his wings and stepped toward the nest.

On his back, all the way up there, their gear already waited.
