His heart pounded and a bead of sweat traced it's way delicately down the side of his face. Sharp blue eyes darted to and fro, examining the long, waving grass in front of him for a sign. The hot sun beat tirelessly on his back, and the Strider beneath him snickered anxiously as they fought their way past what seemed like a never-ending sea of grassy fronds- but, that's probably how the Sea of Grass got it's name, eh?
There! Finally. The man atop the horse bent low, examining the mark. A small footprint in the ground, it faced the way that the horse had been traveling- with one sudden flourish, the man looked up and through the waving grass he saw several colors that shouldn't have been there- lurid hues of blue, yellow and red.
With a cry, the man and his horse leaped forward, pushing forward furiously. In a second, they seemed to transition to a different land- grass no longer brushed their ears. Instead, a large city of tents seemed to have risen up before them, in the many different colors the man had spied before. People bustled around the place, emerging from tents only to enter the one next door; in the distance, the man saw a large man enter a tent with a horse, laden with golden goods. Fires burned, food was cooked and the sky was filled with a dizzying amount of scents and noises- clearly, the man was not the only one who had wanted to reach this city of tents.
A smile broke on Valan Windrider's face as he considered the scene before him. Finally, he had made it! For a second, Valan had been worried that he wouldn't be able to reach Endrykas by nightfall; the Sea of Grass was dangerous to travel at night, though it was no cakewalk during the day. But no, his god, the glorious Zulrav, had steered him right, as he always did; Valan had made it. The Drykas spent a happy moment just reveling in this fact, one tanned hand clutched around the Holy Mark to Zulrav that hung around his neck, praising the god for guiding him there.
Then, his eye was caught on a twisted gate a bit to the side. They were the Knotted Gates, the official entrance to the city of Endrykas, nevermind the fact anyone could just enter through the side, in-between one of the tents...thought the Webbers would most definitely notice you. And that might have some bad reprecussions. And so, Valan thought it would be good for him to enter the formal way, and so his Strider, Raisa, acting by almost unspoken consent, trotted forward and through the Knotted Gates. There, now it was official- Valan Windrider had officially entered the fabled Drykas city of tents.
