30th of Spring 511AV

The days had been long lately. Ildin had been driving him harder and harder. His body was rebelling against him so it seemed. He had trouble waking in the mornings now. Every muscle his body screamed for mercy…which he didn’t provide. His mind had calmed though. It seemed every day here calmed his active mind a little more. His body however was still wanting a break; one which he wouldn’t provide willingly. He had already walked to the Suvai Pavilion. There where his pack would usually be was an empty backpack. No weights nothing. Inside a note written by Ildin.

Take the day to contemplate.

A simple request that left Serrif wondering if she really had other plans. He walked to the temple where he was told his services weren’t needed today. But they would send someone to fetch him if they needed him. He nodded and went back to the beach where his home was. His home took the form of a canvas tent. But he hadn’t saved up enough coin for a real house yet. And well he would have to work on that. He stood there looking out to the waves for about a good hour. Lost in his nearly endless assault of thoughts. His mind drifted form one topic to another. He was at a distinct disadvantage here when it came to dealing with the women of this island. He had no idea what they were thinking, he wasn’t used to having to notice subtle things. He had been getting better at reading faces and the like but there was still body language and such. Usually people were pretty purposeful in their body language, but Konti women seemed to be a little more reserved. Body language was a little more subtle, the signals were also sometimes mixed. Causing him confusion when he was trying to discern meaning. He knew that sometimes Konti women didn’t say what they really meant. They sometimes wanted one thing meant another thing and said something else entirely. This made communication extremely difficult for him.

He was also at a distinct disadvantage because he couldn’t read people’s pasts, present, or future. He had no ability actually do to do. He knew that only some Konti women could do this, but still he couldn’t. Another barrier in him becoming part of this society. He also noticed they were a little easy going about almost everything. The reason for this was likely the extended lifespan that the Konti had. There was no real reason to do everything today; especially if you had hundreds of years to better yourself and accomplish things. He however had a much more restrictive timeline. That was one reason he believed that he couldn’t become part of this society. He could learn the healing arts, and the bow; but he seriously doubted if they would ever really accept him as one of their own. He was among friends here, but not among his kind. His mind reeled as he stood watching the waves crash against the shore. Every now and then one would reach along the shore and gently wash his feet.

He smiled a little as he continued to look out to the sea. It was going to be a long time coming before he established himself here. He really began doubting if he could ever do so. A society based around having hundreds of years to live and he wouldn’t even be a drop of water in the bucket for them. His heart dropped. Now he understood why Blythe couldn’t let herself love him. It wasn’t just the age difference, it was the fact that if she let herself love him she would lose him. But then again she could just not have the ability to love him at all. Maybe he wasn’t the right kind of person for her. Yeah maybe if he lived to be 500 he would be more acceptable to her. He scoffed some and then sighed.

“Maybe then she could love me.”
He said almost a whisper as he looked out to the sea. He found the beach was calming.

Every crash of waves took with it some of his cares. This time it was working on his thoughts of Blythe. That woman would never love him. He knew it now. He could only imagine what little effect he could have on her life in the time he would be here. And how unfair it would be for her to lose him so soon. He would be decrepit and aging and she would be young and well. He sighed and continued to look out to the ocean. The sun was just rising. Coloring the beach wonderful pastels as it reached out with its gold and red fingers and grazed the beach. The day had started and it seemed he had nothing at all to do.

Crashing (Angelique)

Postby Angelique on May 18th, 2011, 2:01 pm

The Konti woman made her way toward the beach, she had decided upon making it a point to visit this area of the island every morning since she loved to hear the sound of waves crashing against the rocks. Nearing the beach she noticed a man standing on the shore looking out over the water. Not recognizing him made her become guarded as she moved closer towards him. Her mind seemed to be on what she planned for the day as she quietly walked along the sand dusted pebbles and shore.

After visiting the beach, she was planning on going to explore more of the island and possibly take in some training. After training she was uncertain of her plans. A half smile formed upon her pale lips as she felt a faint breeze in the air while looking out over the land. The woman couldn’t help but note the beautiful pastel colors in the sky because like the sounds of the waves crashing amongst the rocks, they were calming to her. With each step she took, the ends of her robes blew gently with the wind. Her long locks of blonde hair, seemed to dance as the gentle gusts of wind brushed through them.

Moving within a foot or so of the man standing on the shore line, the woman came to a halt and looked him over for a moment to attempt to read him. The Konti woman could not quickly decide if this man would be of some sort of threat to her, but she figured she would attempt to hold a conversation with him. “Hello.” As she spoke her icy blue hues shifted to a hazel green due to her sensing by reading his body language that something seemed to be troubling him, but she could not exactly place what it was.

Crashing (Angelique)

Serrif stood looking out into the infinite abyss that was the ocean. It made him feel small...insignificant. Just like he really was in the large scale of things. He knew that in all reality he was just another person on this island. He likely wouldn’t live to make that much change in anything. These women…they lived peaceful lives. And they could do so because the pressures of getting what you wanted before you died were nearly nonexistent. They lived hundreds of years…and he would live only 80 if he was lucky. And that was only if. The truth was he would likely only live into his 50’s or so. A truth that he was only now really coming to terms with. He was at the prime of his life now. And there was no sense in wasting it. No he was going to make the most of it. He sighed; his body language was relaxed but depressed. He ran his hand through his hair and sighed a little. Well no sense in debating the inevitable.

He hadn’t been paying attention to his surroundings. Otherwise he would’ve seen her coming. Or at the least heard her coming. But he was lost in his thoughts, drowning in them really. A voice called to him. She sounded close; only a foot away maybe. He didn’t spin about to address her. No he knew that would likely end for the worse. Instead he just spoke.

“Morning, your are up early.” He stated as he then turned his head some and nodded to her with a smile on his face. He then looked back out to the ocean. It’s calming effects still working wonders on his mind and body. He would be polite and wait for her response before doing anything else.

Crashing (Angelique)

After watching the male silently for a few moments, she decided that he couldn’t possibly be a threat, however she knew better than to let her guard down. Her gaze shifted back towards the massive body of water that lay before the both of them as shes pondered for a moment on how she wanted to answer him. “Yes I am. I tend to find that early mornings are the best time to do my thinking." Pausing for a moment she turned her head slightly so that her hazel-green eyes fell upon him once more. “I don’t mean to pry but, what’s your excuse?” The woman asked allowing her gaze to once again shift back towards the ocean. While waiting, she leaned down and picked up a few flat, multi colored pebbles off the shore. She began flicking each one through the air towards the water as she waited for him to answer. While waiting her thoughts once again drifted endlessly it seemed over her plans for the day.

Crashing (Angelique)

He pondered her question and then remembered all the important lessons he had learned from hi many interactions with Blythe. Sometimes truth was best held back. There were times for truth and well sometimes it was best to just mask what was with something you concocted yourself. An important lesson that he had indeed learned the hard way.

“I live here.” He said as he looked up the shore toward the trees. There sat his tent.

“I woke and found that I have the day off. So I am pondering what to do with myself.” He said as he looked to her and then spoke again.

“But I agree the mornings are the best time to do thinking. It helps you gain perspective in what you want to accomplish that day.”

He looked out again over the endless ocean and smiled. Perspective was definitely something he had gained in the last few days. He had been humbled again and again. He had come to the realization that he was almost nothing. That his actions meant almost nothing; and his presence was hardly noticed at all. Something he believed he could also use to his advantage. He was just normal. There really wasn’t anything spectacular about him. And well that made him easy to miss. His only really outstanding feature was the fact that he was a man, and above six foot tall. That was it. But there were other outstanding features that Angelique would notice on closer inspection if she went that far.

“I’m Serrif M’Lady. What is your name?”

Crashing (Angelique)

“My name is Angelique.” She said as her gaze shifted once more back to their icy blue color and her head turned once more so that she could look at the male. She took in his words and pondered for a moment while she continued to read him. “It must be nice living at the beach.” She paused for a moment to allow herself time to think. The Konti woman could clearly see that he was fairly taller than her, but she did not seem too concerned with it. “I am sure there are lots of things around the island to do. You might be able to take in training, or even settle under a tree some where and read.” As she spoke the tone in her voice was kind.

She glanced out over the water again, and started to ponder once again on what she might do with her afternoon once she took in some training, and had done more exploring. While her thoughts filled her mind, she realized that maybe she were being a bit too forward when speaking with the male. Looking at him once more she spoke again. “My apologies if I seem a bit forward, Serrif.” She had made her words short and turned her attention back over the water hoping that she had not offended him if she had been too forward.

Crashing (Angelique)

As she looked him over she would see some interesting markings on his body. Since she was looking at his head she would notice first that they seemed to be near the base of his neck. Then there were matching scars as well near his wrists. She wouldn’t be able to tell if he had matching scars anywhere else yet, his shirt and pants covered those up well; hiding them from view. But they hinted that there was indeed something more to this man than what she saw on the surface. Something deeper; maybe more interesting.

“No you weren’t forward. I just, never thought of doing those things. I spend most of my time training with Mistress Ildin or fishing. Really that and working at the temple keep me rather busy. But today Ildin told me to just take the day to ponder. And so far I dislike the free time to just aimlessly think about whatever I please. The mind can be a dangerous place if left to think too long.” He pondered the truth of that statement and then figured it had come off wrong.

“My apologies for being frank with you Lady Angelique.”
He then looked from her back out to the water…He was definitely good at giving people reasons for thinking he was a little off…And well he was. But wasn’t everyone?

She noticed the markings on the male while looking at him, but they did not seem to bother her because she knew that people ended up with scars for many reasons. “I would have to agree with you on the mind being a dangerous place if left for too long to think about things.” Angelique paused for a moment before continuing. “Some times being frank is needed, so please do not apologize. You seem to have so much on your mind, so maybe I should take my leave.” She said as her gaze once again shifted out over the water while waiting for him to respond.

As her gaze shifted towards the water, she noticed a few ripples near the surface of the aquatic body before them. She could not help but conclude that it was some form of marine life looking for food. While continuing to look out over the waves, the sounds of the pebbles being battered by the sea continued to fill her ears. She could not help but realize that the male looked as if he has not eaten in a while, however she did not think that it was her place to say anything about it.

Crashing (Angelique)

“I’m only busy in contemplation Lady Angelique, and my mind is a very dangerous place to be.” That went without saying.

His body looked like it was just recovering from starvation. The scars told an even more torturous story that one could only begin to think on. He didn’t want to be left alone, but at the same time he didn’t want to ask for her to stay. He figured it would be rude. He wanted to talk but he wondered on what topic the two could possibly have in common. He sighed and then spoke again.

“The ocean is beautiful…” He started as he looked out to the calming waves. “I find myself just staring off into the endless sea often. I often wonder why, and I still do not have an answer to this.”

He continued to look out into the waves and then came to the conclusion that he was likely just enjoying the serenity. The serenity from the chaos that had been his previous life. He was just getting past it. But it seemed that it was beginning to catch up with him again. He knew not why or how but it just seemed like it was. No matter what he did he would always be a runaway. That was the sad truth that he had been contemplating as of late. But he could be more; but at the same time he couldn’t erase what was…But who were they to mark him. He didn’t belong to anyone or anything. He was his own person…

“Excuse me for a moment.." She stated before turning to walk off towards the trees in the not so far off distance after spotting a grapefruit tree. After reaching the grapefruit tree, Angelique stood on her tip-toes so that she could reach a branch which had a couple of nice looking grapefruit hanging. She picked them from the tree and returned to where she had left Serrif. Finally grow tired of standing she lowered herself into a sitting position upon the sandy shore. This time as she listened to Serrif’s words, she glanced towards Serrif as she offered him a one of the delicious items she brought back with her “Hungry?” She asked as she held one out to him, hoping that he would accept her kind gesture.

As the Konti waited for him to take it from her, she turned her head slightly so that her gaze fell back on the ocean. She knew that she could not argue with the male about the ocean being beautiful because it truly was especially as the sun came up."Yes it is. It truly is magnificent.” Her voice was now but a soft whisper. Her thoughts shifted to something other than her plans for the day for a brief moment as a question arose in her mind. “Excuse me for asking this, but are you alone?”
